Avalanche snow rake for the Blizzard of 2010

Review by Terry C. Rossen, 2010-04-03

IT WORKS! We had more than 54 inches of snow during that February 2010 blizzard. The weight of the snow of the roof and gutters was terrible.
The rake got here after the second storm and I put it to good use. The wheels allow the blade to ride up over the 3 feet of snow on the roof and the 20 feet of extension poles allow you to work safe from below. Remember to stand away from the snow you are pulling off and be prepared to shovel the new snow piles from the roof! It is very sturdy, great exercise and hope I never need it again.

15 minute snow rake

Review by Robert Parks, 2010-02-28

After waiting an extra 3 days for an over night delivery fee, it broke after 15 minutes of use. I bought another snow rake that was braced for just over one-half the price ($35 vs $60) that has raked two icy snow-covered rooves without failing.

The right tool for the job

Review by T&S Enterprises, 2010-02-17

The plastic head is WELL designed for both handling, cutting, and raking! The tool has reinforcement flanges that will allow NORMAL cutting through tough tops and drawing snow off high rooftops. It IS plastic material BUT the snow does NOT cling (UGH...like the shovel). The tool is MORE useful than shovel(s) for moving ground accumulations that fall from the roof. Just remove the pole segments to suit the job. This is especially useful for helping to prevent OVER exertion during critical snowfall. The naked pole is useful for pre-cutting rake-sized pad to draw off the roof. Good job and no wonder Amazon now says, "...nn week delay in shipping." th

Fine for light dry snow

Review by fffdave, 2010-02-14

Review of Avalanche SRD20 Snow Rake
This snow rake works fine for light dry snow if you get at it before it packs. Mine broke on the plastic rake where the first metal section attaches. This happened after about 20 hours of use. Granted, some of this snow was packed and needed some pulling to loosen. I have had other brands that held up to this type use for a full season or two. This is not a heavy duty item so I could only recommend it for areas that receive an average of one or two heavy snowfalls per winter.
Packaging from Amazon was fair. One end of the packing box was completely open on arrival, but no pieces were missing. Shipping from Amazon was otherwise excellent.

Garbage

Review by Brian Schwertfeger, 2010-02-11

Broke on the first use!!! Sent it up the roof, about half way down and SNAP! pole in my hands, blue rake on the roof. See you in the spring!
